Taylor Swift has shared an unusually candid reflection on her splits from Joe Alwyn and Matty Healy in her docuseries.

In recent episodes of End of an Era, the Shake It Off singer speaks openly about experiencing two breakups during the opening stretch of The Eras Tour in 2023.

"I went through two breakups in the first half of this tour and that's a lot of breakups, actually," Swift said, according to Page Six, explaining that the tour gave her a sense of "purpose" and helped her "get out of bed" while so much "s**t that was going on".

"Men will let you down. The Eras Tour never will," the 36 year old remarked, adding that her 2024 album The Tortured Poets Department was written during that particularly "rough time" in her life.

The global pop star was in a relationship with British actor Alwyn for six years before they parted ways in early 2023, followed by a short lived romance with The 1975 singer Healy.

Those relationships and their endings went on to shape several tracks on The Tortured Poets Department, including I Can Do It With a Broken Heart, which focuses on continuing to perform for massive crowds while dealing with personal heartbreak.

Later that year, Swift began seeing American football star Travis Kelce after he revealed on his New Heights podcast that he had tried to give her a friendship bracelet with his phone number at one of her Eras Tour shows. The pair became engaged in August.

In the docuseries, Swift’s mother Andrea shares that she was the one who nudged her daughter to make contact with the athlete after reading about his comments in the press.

"It was so earnest," Andrea said of the moment. "I thought it was the sweetest thing in the world that he came to your show, he brought you something from your world... I liked it."

The Blank Space singer later recalled, "You called me up with this tone of, 'Hey, so I know you're not gonna react well to this. But there's a guy.' You said something to the effect of, 'You've got to start doing something different.'"

The final two episodes of End of an Era are set to arrive on Disney+ on 23 December.
