Jelly Roll has said he was “treated like a criminal” during a recent visit to a luxury fashion store.
On Wednesday, the Son of a Sinner artist shared a video on Instagram Stories while walking past the Louis Vuitton store in Sydney, Australia.
Speaking directly to the camera, Jelly Roll — whose real name is Jason DeFord — claimed that staff at the high-end shop seemed hesitant to serve him and his team.
“Hey man, the Louis Vuitton in Sydney legitimately just treated us like we were finna come in and rob that place,” he said.
The musician went on to joke that it had been years since anyone looked at him that way — not since he was actually in trouble with the law as a young man.
“I have never been looked at more like a crim... Listen, the last time I was looked at like a criminal this bad... I was an actual criminal this bad,” the 40-year-old added.
Jelly Roll didn’t share further details about what happened.
Representatives for Louis Vuitton have not yet responded to the Tennessee native’s remarks.
In past interviews, Jelly Roll has spoken openly about his early years, revealing that he was first arrested at 14 and spent much of his youth in and out of jail before turning his life around and pursuing music full-time.
The Need a Favor singer recently wrapped up a series of concerts in Australia and is set to perform next in Auckland, New Zealand, on Saturday night.
