System of a Down revived their long running feud with Oasis during their headline performance at London's Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
The Grammy winning rock band's guitarist Daron Malakian encouraged the crowd on Monday night (13.07.26) to chant "Pull Oasis out of your ass" after jokingly comparing the Britpop group to a "tapeworm".
Before launching into Needles, he told the audience: “We have a song about a tapeworm. Just for fun today, I’m going to name the tapeworm Oasis."
The comment comes years after Oasis guitarist Noel Gallagher publicly criticised the band in the early 2000s.
During a radio interview in the United States, he said: “I’m actually alive to hear the s*******t band of all time."
Daron's latest swipe at Oasis follows a similar moment from last year when he came across a sign outside the Chicago Cubs' Wrigley Field that read "F*** Oasis."
Posting a photo of himself standing beneath the sign on Instagram, he wrote: “Wow!!! I kept ending up at the right place at the right time in Chicago!!!!!"
Over the years, System of a Down have experienced plenty of wild moments during their live shows. Daron previously remembered being booed off stage while opening for Slayer, with members of the audience throwing a bagel and loose change at the band as they left the stage.
Speaking to Metal Hammer, he said: “Our first tour in the US and our first tour in Europe were both opening for Slayer. Some people got it, some people didn’t. We would get booed off the stage in some of those countries.”
He continued: “The approach I took to those Slayer shows was that if they didn’t start chanting ‘Slayer!’ while we were playing, I would make them start chanting ‘Slayer!’ We just didn’t let that faze us. I remember we were in Poland and people didn’t get it at all.
"They booed us off the stage, they threw things at us, they threw coins, they threw a bagel at Serj! But we just kept doing what we do and moving forward. Like, if I was a comedian, I find my jokes funny – if everyone else isn’t laughing, I don’t care.”
