Shakira once again proved her global impact this Saturday, drawing an estimated crowd of more than two million people to Copacabana Beach in Rio de Janeiro. The free show, titled Todo Mundo No Rio, marked her long-awaited return to Brazil and is now considered one of the most attended concerts ever. Beyond the moment itself, the event is expected to bring in around 800 million in economic value for the region, alongside a huge 123% spike in travel demand.
The night opened with a major visual moment as Studio Drift sent 1,500 drones into the sky, setting a new benchmark for drone shows at a live concert. Shakira stepped on stage wearing the first of four custom Etro outfits, including a silk fly suit detailed with Swarovski crystals in Brazil’s signature yellow and green. Throughout the set, she spoke to the crowd in Portuguese and performed hits across her catalog, including "Hips Don’t Lie" and "La Bicicleta."
The show also paid tribute to Brazil’s rich musical culture. Shakira brought out Anitta for the live debut of their track "Choka Choka." She was also joined by icons Caetano Veloso and Maria Bethânia Veloso, along with Ivete Sangalo for a lively performance of "País Tropical." One of the biggest moments came during "Waka Waka," which featured the Mare Dance group and brought the energy of the night to its peak.
This achievement adds to an already historic run for the superstar. Just months earlier, Shakira pulled in 400,000 fans for a free concert at Zócalo in Mexico City after completing a record-breaking 13-show run at Estadio GNP Seguros. With her Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran World Tour now recognized as the highest grossing tour by a Hispanic artist, she continues to push the boundaries of live music. Next up, fans can expect a series of more intimate arena shows across the United States, followed by an 11-night stadium residency in Madrid later this year.
