The Dutch dance duo’s summer release has raced up the rankings after a video of England defender John Stones dancing to the catchy track went viral. The huge reaction across social media has given the song a major boost, lifting it to number two on the early midweek chart and making it a strong contender for the top position.
The pair are competing against Sam Fender and Olivia Dean, whose successful collaboration “Rein Me In” remains at number one. Fender and Dean are hoping to continue their historic run at the top, but the unexpected surge sparked by the football video has made the battle for Friday’s official chart title increasingly close.
The latest midweek figures also show a particularly successful period for electronic and dance releases in the UK. If the seven member group maintains its current level of sales and streams throughout the week, the song will become its 13th Top 40 hit and eighth Top 20 release in the United Kingdom. Meanwhile, Stella Lefty’s country pop crossover song “Boston” continues moving upward, gaining one position during the first 48 hours of tracking to reach number 17.
