Ariana Grande, a three time Grammy Award recipient, has brought her sold out "The Eternal Sunshine Tour" to an official close. The spectacular 41 date trek ended at London’s The O2 on Tuesday 1 September, completing an impressive residency of 10 performances in the British capital.
Presented by Live Nation, the international tour attracted more than 630,000 ticket holders across 10 cities, with around 15,000 people attending each evening. The shows followed the arrival of Grande’s newest studio record petal, which reached No.1 on the UK Official Albums Chart and the US Billboard 200. Fans were also given unexpected first performances of several songs during the tour, including 'freak', 'kiss me', 'bad thing (bunny hop)', 'like i do', and 'warning signs'.
Speaking to fans during the closing concert in London, Grande shared her appreciation: "This has been an extraordinary experience. Thank you for 10 beautiful London shows and for 41 incredible Eternal Sunshine tour shows. This has been one of the most beautiful extraordinary experiences of my life and I just wanted to express my gratitude without sobbing completely. Thank you from the bottom of my heart."
Critics responded enthusiastically to the production, awarding five star ratings for Grande’s powerful vocals, detailed staging and live looping sequences. Several guests also appeared across the tour, with Cynthia Erivo joining Grande in London to sing 'For Good' from Wicked, while Ty Dolla $ign took the stage in New York for 'Safety Net'.
Away from the performances, Grande used the tour to support her Brighter Days Ahead Foundation, which provided funding and visibility to 30 organisations working across LGBTQ+ rights, access to mental health services and emergency assistance. British recipients included Micro Rainbow, Trans Solidarity Alliance, The Proud Trust, Save The Children UK, Choose Love, and Consortium LGBT. Her r.e.m. beauty company also organised interactive pop up experiences at stops throughout North America and the UK, welcoming tens of thousands of attendees.
