Ariana Grande gave the lyrics about her boyfriend Ricky Alvarez one final update during the closing concert of her Eternal Sunshine tour on Tuesday.

The Into You singer reunited with her former backup dancer earlier this year and has regularly adjusted a line from her 2018 track Thank U, Next during the tour as a tribute to him.

The original song features Ariana singing, "Wrote some songs about Ricky / Now I listen and laugh." However, at the last performance inside London's O2 Arena, she changed the words again and offered a romantic ending with, "Wrote some songs about Ricky / I'm tryna make him my last."

Fans erupted after hearing the surprise alteration.

The 33 year old changed the conclusion of the lyric on several occasions throughout the concert run. Previous versions included, "And they still kinda slap", "I know he's still got my back" and "We always find our way back".

Ariana and Ricky first had a relationship from 2015 until 2016. Reports suggested they reunited during the summer before confirming their romance on Instagram in August. They have also been seen together around London while she completed her residency.

The musician revealed at the beginning of August that she planned to take "a step back from visibility" once the tour had finished.

During the farewell performance, the Wicked star grew emotional while expressing her appreciation to fans for providing her with one of the "extraordinary experiences of my life" ahead of her break from public attention.
