Taylor Swift Shoots a Lavish Christmas Music Video in Secret in the UK

Taylor Swift reportedly filmed a Christmas themed music video in the UK under tight security, keeping the entire production under wraps.

The Grammy winning singer is said to have travelled by private jet from New Jersey to Hampshire last weekend to shoot the video at several unusual locations, including the Whitgift Centre shopping mall in Croydon, South London.

According to the report, extras were also seen at the Mildmay Club in Stoke Newington, North London.

Singer Lewis Capaldi and actor Domhnall Gleeson are reportedly among the famous faces making cameo appearances in the video, which is believed to accompany ‘Opalite’, a track from Swift's album The Life of a Showgirl.

An insider told The Sun on Sunday: “This video was shrouded in secrecy, with Taylor’s security team working day and night to ensure she wasn’t sighted at any point. It was like a military operation.

“But she IS the most powerful woman in pop, so if she wants to go unseen, she’ll make it happen.”

One witness told the newspaper that the production featured vintage outfits and plenty of seasonal decorations, with extras seen leaving the venue alongside Christmas trees, glitter cannons and tinsel.

The onlooker also revealed that banana milkshake was used as a substitute for eggnog, while grape juice was served in place of expensive champagne.

The ‘The Fate of Ophelia’ singer is reportedly spending around $1 million on the festive video, which has been described as having a “nostalgic feel, like Love Actually meets a John Lewis advert”.

The source added: “Security was really tight. Taylor and her cast were given numbers instead of names, and were whisked between cars and buildings under a fortress of umbrellas and screens to keep the whole project under wraps.

“You’ve never seen secrecy like it.

“Some shops were informed of filming, but they were told it was for an insurance commercial, something suitably boring that wouldn’t arouse suspicion.

“The budget was massive, around £1million. Hiring out the shopping centre alone would have cost several hundreds of thousands of pounds, even if it is tired.

“Of course, it was decorated and dressed up to look Christmassy. It has a nostalgic feel, like Love Actually meets a John Lewis advert.”
