KATSEYE is embracing complete chaos, but one of Hollywood’s most elegant stars, Demi Moore, arrives just in time to guide the group.
The actress appears in the music video for KATSEYE’s latest single, “Animal,” which was released Friday, July 24. Throughout the visual, Lara, Megan, Daniela, Yoonchae and Sophia perform without Manon, who remains on hiatus. The members experience several uncomfortable situations inside and outside a sealed red room, where they dance before one way glass while several men wearing suits observe them.
The supposed executives closely resemble KATSEYE’s own members. Wearing short wigs and ties, the women transform themselves into the kind of powerful male industry figures they may have encountered while building their careers.
“Nobody knows you’re outta control,” the group sings as the people in the room reject them and tear apart their headshots. The song continues by describing a hidden side that emerges through movement on the dance floor.
After failing to impress those watching from behind the glass, KATSEYE frantically searches through a dressing room for outfits that might finally earn their approval. Moore then enters the scene, sitting calmly in a chair while projecting a quiet sense of authority.
“Is that the shoe? I don’t think so,” she says, repeatedly responding with “no, no, no” as the members present one disappointing outfit after another. Once they find the right looks, she declares, “Alright, let’s get wild.”
Wearing shimmering silver ensembles, the five members head back into the red room and deliver an energetic performance, leaving audiences to decide whether their transformed counterparts are finally satisfied.
“Animal” is the newest release from KATSEYE’s forthcoming EP Wild, scheduled to arrive Aug. 14. The group previously introduced the project with “Pinky Up,” which entered the Billboard Hot 100 at No. 28 in April.
The video reflects the hectic pace of KATSEYE’s recent schedule. Following appearances at Coachella and Gov Ball, the group is preparing to premiere its Wild Hearts film in August before beginning a tour in September. At the same time, the members continue answering questions surrounding Manon’s ongoing absence.
“People just have no idea what goes on,” Lara told Vanity Fair during a June interview while discussing Manon, who stepped away from the group in February to prioritize her well being. “They just don’t. It’s nothing but love between us.”
“We can definitely say that in our situation, in no way was it about race,” Sofia added at the time, responding to the speculation. “That goes against everything that we stand for.”
