Florence Road have released their latest single, ‘7563’. Listen to the track below.
The Irish group, who previously appeared as NME Cover stars, follow their 2026 breakthrough song ‘Hanging Out To Dry’ with the new release. That track reached Number One on the Irish Airplay Chart and gained widespread attention through TikTok.
Explaining the meaning behind the song, Florence Road said: “‘7563’ is about feeling out of place, lost and confused. Not being sure of who you are.”
“It’s about knowing that you need to break yourself out of it, feeling that something is calling at you to wake you up from this ‘bad dream’.”
The track begins with a powerful and uplifting introduction as singer and guitarist Lily Aron admits that “everything’s blue” before wondering: “When will it end?”
As the song moves into its heavier chorus, Aron sings: “Dive slow and I’m falling for hours / And the seahorse is pulling me downwards / And I’m tangled in the fright / Dive slow, and I’m trapped in the towers / And the ceiling’s beginning to shower / So I guess it’s fight or flight.”
A frantic bridge filled with distortion arrives later, featuring the lyrics: “Something calling and it’s calling and it’s calling me / Calling and it’s calling and it’s 7563 / Ringing and it’s ringing, and it’s ringing right in front of me / 75 / 75 / 7563.”
Florence Road have included ‘7563’ in their concerts since 2024, with the song gradually becoming a favourite among their fans.
Celebrating its official arrival, the band shared: “So happy to finally release this song, after two years of playing it live. We’ve had the joy of playing it in Australia, across Europe and in America, and now you can finally know what the lyrics are.
“This song means the world to us. For anyone with the strange feeling of becoming a stranger to yourself.”
The four member group introduced its debut mixtape, ‘Fall Back’, last summer before returning with the ‘Spring Forward’ EP earlier this year.
After earning a place among the nominees for BBC Radio 1’s Sound Of 2026, Florence Road are preparing to perform at Reading & Leeds and Ireland’s Electric Picnic later this month. A series of headline concerts in Ireland will follow toward the end of 2026. Remaining tickets are available here.
Last month, the band supported Wolf Alice during their huge homecoming performance at Finsbury Park in London. Florence Road have also recently appeared at Latitude, Tramlines, Kendal Calling and Boardmasters. Earlier in the spring, they completed their largest UK headline tour so far.
The NME 100 alumni spoke with NME for their May Cover feature. During the conversation, Aron described ‘Spring Forward’ as capturing “love in a nutshell”. She continued: “Different types of love. It’s how you receive love, how you understand it, processing the negative and the good.”
Drummer Hannah Kelly also explained: “If ‘Fall Back’ is falling back into adulthood, ‘Spring Forward’ is like putting your shoes on and being like, ‘OK, let’s keep going.’”
Asked what the group hopes to protect as its success continues, Aron answered: “Inner peace. Just being happy and sure of ourselves and not letting anyone else’s opinions except the four of ours really matter.”
Florence Road also assembled an exclusive playlist called ‘Songs For A Road Trip’ to accompany the feature. The selection includes music from Cameron Winter, MUNA, Wet Leg and several other artists.
