Taylor Swift Show Terror Plotter Jailed For 15 Years

A man has been sentenced to 15 years in prison after being convicted of plotting a terrorist attack at a Taylor Swift concert in Vienna in 2024.

The 21 year old Austrian, identified only as Beran A, was taken into custody after a warning from the CIA arrived shortly before Swift’s hugely successful ‘Eras Tour’ was due to reach the Austrian capital. When authorities searched his home, they reportedly discovered an almost fully assembled explosive device.

The discovery led to the cancellation of all three sold out shows at Vienna’s Ernst Happel Stadium, where more than 195,000 fans were expected to attend across August 8, 9 and 10.

Last month, Beran A admitted that he had planned an attack targeting one of Swift’s concerts and acknowledged involvement with a terrorist organisation. However, he denied additional allegations, including claims that he was plotting an attack in the Islamic holy city of Mecca.

Appearing before the court on Thursday, May 28, he expressed remorse for his actions before jurors spent several hours considering the case, according to BBC News. He was ultimately handed a 15 year prison sentence for planning a jihadist attack connected to Swift’s Vienna performances.

Prosecutors argued that Beran A had become radicalised and pledged allegiance to the extremist group Islamic State (IS). They also stated that he attempted to acquire weapons illegally, including a machine gun and a hand grenade, though those efforts were unsuccessful.

Court psychiatrist Peter Hoffmann testified that Beran A showed no signs of mental illness, adding that there was “no psychiatric explanation” for how he became radicalised.

A second suspect, 21 year old Arda K from Slovakia, was also accused of being involved in an Islamic State linked cell.

According to earlier claims from prosecutors, Beran A began preparing for the planned attack around July 21. He was arrested on August 7, just one day before the first concert was scheduled to take place.

Both suspects were teenagers when the alleged plot was first developed.

Last summer, a teenager in Germany received an 18 month suspended sentence for assisting with preparations connected to the attempted Vienna attack. The suspect, a Syrian national identified as “Mohammed A”, was charged with supporting a foreign terrorist organisation and helping another individual prepare a terrorist act.

Following the cancellations in 2024, Swift addressed fans and described the situation as “devastating”, while also expressing gratitude toward authorities. She said she was “grateful to the authorities because, thanks to them, we were grieving concerts and not lives”.

In her 2025 documentary The End Of An Era, the singer reflected on the incident, saying that she had effectively “dodged a massacre situation” after law enforcement disrupted the planned attack.

Elsewhere, legal representatives continue to battle over the Taylor Swift ‘The Life Of A Showgirl’ trademark dispute, with both sides arguing over claims of “reverse confusion” connected to the album title.

In separate news, Pixar recently shut down rumours suggesting that Swift had contributed a song to the closing credits of Toy Story 5.
