Dolly Parton is grieving the loss of her brother Coy 'Denver' Parton, who has died at the age of 82.
The singer’s older brother died in Tennessee on Thursday, according to an obituary published by Atchley Funeral Home and reported by Page Six. A cause of death has not yet been disclosed.
Coy stayed away from public attention throughout his life. His obituary noted that he worked as a crane operator while also farming his homestead and enjoying hunting.
His passing comes after the deaths of four other brothers he shared with Dolly, including Larry Parton in 1955, Floyd Parton in 2018, Randy Parton in 2021, and David Parton in 2024.
Coy leaves behind Dolly and their six remaining siblings, Willadeene Buzzeo, Robert Parton Jr, Stella Parton, Cassie Griffith, Freida Parton, and Rachel George.
Dolly has also faced several medical concerns recently, beginning last September when kidney stones forced her to withdraw from an appearance at Dollywood.
One month later, she delayed her Las Vegas residency, which has since been cancelled, so she could receive a "few procedures".
The 9 to 5 singer also missed the celebration held for her 80th birthday in January.
In May, Dolly shared that she was "responding really well to meds and treatments" and "improving every day".
Last month, the music legend surprised guests by attending the ribbon cutting ceremony for the opening of her Tennessean Travel Stop.
She also revealed in early July that Dolly: A True Original Musical is heading to Broadway and will celebrate her remarkable life and career.
